Semiconductor Parts Washer

Challenge:
A customer manufactures systems that wash semiconductors between wet processes. They need to control a robot which moves parts from one wash bath to another. A PLC is used to control the fluid levels and temperatures.  The customer wants to link this and other machines to a factory-wide Ethernet system.

Solution:
The robot is driven by servomotors and commanded by a dedicated motion controller.  The PLC is required to handle the large number of system I/O.  An operator interface (Model 3000) acts as the quarterback, gluing the PLC's data registers to the robot controllers sequential motions.  In addition the operator interface contains a 10Base-T Ethernet connection to the factory network.
