Connector Pin Insertion Controller
Challenge:
A customer manufactures electronic connectors and needs controls to assemble and inspect them.
Solution:
A motion controller controls the pin reel feed and advances the part on a conveyor. The PLC inserts the pin and reads the sensor to ensure that the pin is correctly inserted. The pin insertion solenoid could be replaced with a voice coil actuator for tight insertion force control. An operator interface allows operator entry to select the part number and thus the number of pins. Non-volatile part recipe storage is provided.
