| Painting - Cartesian System |

Challenge:
Client needs to paint curved surface while keeping spray head a fixed distance from surface.
Solution:
A cartesian gantry constructed of rodless electric actuators (ballscrew-driven) provides modest precision and speed over a wide area with an open aperture. Servomotors provide smooth motion. A multi-axis motion controller coordinates the actuators. An analog distance sensor feeds a position signal to the Z-axis upon which the spray head is mounted. This maintains uniform spacing between the spray head and the product.
